FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q:

Which infrared device should I choose?

A:

(Part 2 of 2)

What is better on the IRTrans side:
- FAR easier to "learn" remotes - a remote can be learned in 5 minutes in a
very easy process, compared to 45-60 mins on the ZephIR.
- Much better range.
- Wider range of devices available
- Newer and more user friendly software, web site and documentation
- Software is fully compatible with Intel Macs, and more stable for programming
- Works across a network

What is worse on the IRTrans side: (Updated 3/2/2007)
- Over double the price if you consider overseas shipping-- current pricing for US customers is USD$119 with shipping
- Located in Germany - further for support if necessary

Final word and personal opinion: (Updated 3/2/2007)
My personal preference is the IRTrans, mainly because the programming process is so easy, and the software is more current.

However, if your budget is tighter, the ZephIR's developer's offer to program your remote for you is hard to beat, and once your remote is programmed, the ZephIR will perform just as well.
